Updated over a week ago

Overview

The Control tab within the Advanced Settings of Hive Studio allows direct access to specialized hardware features offered by your camera’s driver. These functions go beyond basic PTZ and image adjustments—they allow for the manipulation of hardware-based settings such as tally lights, cooling systems, outdoor protection tools, and other driver-specific controls exposed through manufacturer APIs.

Navigating to Control Settings

  1. Launch Hive Studio and verify your selected organization and studio.

  2. In the Source Tray, locate the video source you want to adjust and click the cogwheel icon (⚙️).

  3. Inside the Advanced Settings window, click the “Control” tab at the top.

  4. From there, select the Controls sub-tab, if available.

Control Features You May Encounter

Depending on your camera’s model and driver integration, the Controls tab may expose:

  • Tally Lights – Turn on/off tally indicators for live status visibility.

  • Wipers – For outdoor cameras with environmental protection, control mechanical wipers.

  • Fan Control – Enable/disable fans or set specific fan speed levels for cameras with active cooling systems.

  • IR Modes – Toggle infrared cut filters or low-light modes.

  • Custom IO Settings – Configure GPIO pins, alarm triggers, or external sensor integrations.

These settings are only available if supported by the camera manufacturer and the loaded driver. They will vary from model to model.

Conclusion

The Control tab is a valuable tool for harnessing hardware-level functions built into many professional-grade cameras. Whether you’re managing on-set tally lights or configuring fan behavior for long-duration shoots, this panel gives you direct access to features that can improve reliability, usability, and coordination across your setup.
