Advanced Settings Overview

Configure device-specific camera parameters like exposure, streaming, focus, and more in one centralized tab.

Overview

Advanced Settings introduces a flexible interface for configuring camera-specific settings from your camera into the studio. These options give users granular control over Video Configuration, Audio Configuration, Signal output, System settings, and device outputs across different supported camera drivers. Tabs are context-sensitive and appear based on the connected hardware. Each camera driver is unique; not all cameras will share the same settings.

1. Accessing the Settings

  • Select an active Studio located at the top left of your Application.

  • Hover your cursor over an active camera and click the settings icon in the lower right corner of the Source Frame next to the Source Label.

    • If no sources are in your studio, add one first and then follow the above step.

  • The Advanced Settings tab will appear on the right side of your Application

2. Common Tabs and What They Do:

Tab Name

Description

Hive Connection

Adjust your Video, Audio, and Driver settings. You can monitor the connection health of your sources in the “Monitoring” sub-tab

Video

Configure the Output, HDMI Output, NDI, and RTSP Settings of your Source.

Control

Utilize the unique control features of your camera, such as tally lights, fans, wipers, etc.

Audio

Configure audio settings, such as onboard microphones

Network

Configure IP configs, Enable ONVIF & ONVIF Authentication

Features

Manage your camera’s features, such as OSD, UAC, ND Filtering, and more.

System

Sync date, time, and other system features

How It Works and What to Expect

  • Tabs appear only if supported by the camera's driver

  • Risky Settings, such as IP Configuration or protocol changes, may only update when the “Save Changes” button is clicked at the bottom right of the window. Simple settings like toggles and sliders may not require saving and will automatically apply once adjusted.

  • Some categories are hidden if no applicable fields are detected. For example, if your camera does not have tally lights, it will not appear in “Controls”

  • The interface adapts automatically when switching between camera models

Tips, Limitations, and Best Practices

  • Use with compatible or supported camera drivers for best results

  • If settings seem missing, confirm that the exact make and model matches your device. If you notice that some features are not found in Advanced Settings, look in the Control & Image Tray on your dashboard.

    • If the options still aren’t there, please submit a ticket here or message [email protected].

  • It is good practice to reboot your devices once new settings have been applied.

FAQs

1. Why don't I see the Advanced Settings tab?

It only appears if the connected camera supports advanced controls and the correct driver is in use.

2. Why are some tabs missing or empty?

Tabs only load when relevant to the current camera model. Empty tabs are hidden.

3. Are changes saved automatically?

Sometimes. When you change risky settings, you will need to commit your changes by clicking the “Save Changes” button on the bottom right of the Advanced Settings Modal.

4. Can I break anything by changing these values?

No, but certain configurations can be more taxing on your network, cloud data usage, and may cause overages. For example, H264 encoding is more data efficient (cheaper) than some other encoding options.

5. Is there a reset button for all settings?

Currently no universal reset button exists; reset options depend on individual tab contents.

6. How do I know if my device is supported?

Refer to the supported device list in This Article or the System tab for driver info.

Use Cases

  • General Session vs. Breakout Sessions: Adjust streaming bitrate for bandwidth-limited environments

  • Only 2 HDMI inputs, but 6 SDI Inputs: Set HDMI output to match external recording hardware, or mix and match SDI & HDMI when inputs are in short supply

Advanced Settings centralizes camera configuration for supported Hive devices. Its dynamic interface tailors available settings to your device, giving full control to technicians and power users alike. If the tab doesn’t appear or certain settings are missing, verify driver compatibility or switch to a supported camera model.
