Linking a Bridge

Updated over 2 weeks ago

What's a Bridge?

The Bridge, built into the Desktop app, connects your Studio directly to your local network. It enables you to discover, control, and receive video from network-connected cameras. Once linked, you can remotely manage these devices anytime using the browser or desktop app.

Linking Your Bridge

  1. Begin Linking: Click "Link a Bridge" in the center of the interface to open the Bridge tray.

  2. Search for Devices: The system will scan for available Bridges to be linked.

  3. Link Your Computer: Select "Link Device" to set your computer as the Bridge. This will then link and restart your Studio. Once complete, your Studio will push a notification letting you know the link was successful.

Managing Linked Devices

  • View Linked Devices: After linking, you can view all linked devices by accessing the bridge tray.

  • Unlink or Restart: Options to restart or unlink the device will be available in the bridge tray.

  • View Metrics: You can also view performance metrics related to the bridge.

Handling Offline and Reconnecting States

  • Offline Notification: If your bridge goes offline, you will receive a notification within the app.

  • Reconnect: The app will attempt to reconnect automatically. If unsuccessful, you'll need to troubleshoot your network or restart the bridge.

Updating Bridge Software

  • Update Notification: When a new update is available, the app will notify you.

  • Initiate Update: Click "Update Driver" to begin the update process. The bridge will temporarily go offline during the update.

  • Completion: Once the update is complete, the bridge will reconnect automatically.

Troubleshooting Linking Errors

  • Error Notification: If the bridge fails to link, an error message will be displayed.

  • Retry Linking: Click "Try Again" to repeat the linking process. Ensure that your network connection is stable.

Limitations/Restrictions

  • Single Bridge per Studio: Currently, only one bridge per studio is supported, though future updates may enable multiple bridge support.

  • Web Browser Limitations: Linking bridges is only possible through the Electron app, not through the web interface.

  • Network Dependence: The computer must be on the same network as other devices for successful linking and operation.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Keep Software Updated: Regularly update the Native app and your bridge firmware to ensure optimal performance.

  • Use the Same Network: Make sure all devices are on the same local network during the linking process to avoid connection issues.

FAQs
