Overview
Adding an audio source in Hive ensures synchronized sound for your productions, especially in remote setups. This guide covers how to access, discover, and manage audio devices on your network using the Hive UI.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Open the Audio Tab
Launch Hive.
In the upper left Sources tray, click the Audio tab.
The interface will shift to show audio tools and sources.
2. Add a Reference Audio Source (Optional)
If working remotely without a way to monitor in-room audio, via an operator’s console output or integrated audio control device, it’s recommended to add a Reference Audio Source.
3. Start the flow of adding a New Audio Source
Click the plus (+) button or a blank frame in the Audio tab.
The Device Scanner window will pop up and give you a list of discoverable audio sources on your network.
4. Discover Audio Devices
Hive will scan your network for connected audio devices.
Ensure devices are on the same subnet and powered on.
If no devices appear, you can filter by connection type or click Search Again. If your devices still do not appear, check that they are connected to the correct IP range, subnet, or directly to the bridge.
5. Select and Preview Your Audio Source
Choose the desired audio source from the list.
Wait a few seconds for the audio preview to initialize (you’ll see the audio bar moving).
Click Continue.
6. Adjust Audio Offset (Latency)
After the source is added, you can toggle the Audio Offset to adjust latency in increments of milliseconds.
7. Manage Audio Source Settings
Hover over the audio source and click the Settings icon.
Adjust advanced source-specific settings.
8. Delete an Audio Source
From the Advanced Settings window, scroll down.
Click Delete Source and confirm deletion.
How It Works and What to Expect
Audio sources are discovered over your local network (same subnet).
Each source has a unique name and health bar to indicate active input.
Reference Audio is helpful for remote workflows.
Tips, Limitations, and Best Practices
Always verify devices are on the same subnet or directly connected to the bridge via USB or other adapter before scanning.
Use audio offset to sync sound with video. Calculate your delay by dividing the frame rate by 1000.
Reference audio is not required but helpful when remote.
Removing an audio source is permanent and must be confirmed.
